He received his first proper drum kit when he was in his teens. In order to pursue a career as musician, he dropped out of high school and joined the L.A. nightclub band Suite 19. 5 As a teen, he was a fan of Van Halen and Led Zeppelin as well as Kiss, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Kiss and Led Zeppelin. John Bonham and Tommy Aldridge were his main drumming influence.
