Taylor Russell McKenzie was born on the 18th of July 1994 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and was raised in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal. [1][2] Russell, who was born to the black father and white mother, is biracial, and grew up with her mother's side of the family. Her skin color made her feel unwelcome when she was a teenager. The family was struggling financially and had to move 16 times to work for her father. Despite this adversity, Russell mentioned how in her early years "there was always a chance for re-invention, to make something new."As as a young person, Russell was already artistically inclined, at first, she would like to pursue a career in ballet and later to be a painter. She was 18 when she began her first acting class. She borrowed money from her job to buy an automobile and travel to Los Angeles to audition. After her money ran out she would go back to work until she had enough income to audition again. That routine went on for four years before she landed her first major television role.
